What Are Pintle Hooks?

A Pintle Hook (hitch) is a claw or pincher-type device that clamps through a lunette ring on the tongue of a trailer.

Normally used in heavy duty towing of large tow vehicles. Pintle hooks are rated from 5 to 30 tons. A pintle hook and lunette ring makes a more secure coupling when used on rough terrain, compared to the traditional ball-type trailer hitch.
